Some jewelry is obvisiouly poorly made, and its only worth the metal its made out of. The problem is that jewelry often sells for several times the worth of the gold in it. So you start pretty deep in the hole. Bullion coins, like Krugerrands or Pandas, sell much closer to the price of gold, and will appreciate more.
