This is probably one of my favorite articles to write for this site. I know you are wondering if I actually mean it and the answer is YES, simply because I love this topic and this will be fun to write about.

Jewelry boxes are one of the first things that a young girl owns which can make her feel older. Whether you are willing to accept it or not, every young girl wants to feel a bit more grown up and giving her a beautiful box that holds all her jewelry, gives her the illusion of independence and teaches her to take care of her things.

Now, the first thing about buying a jewelry box for your girls is understanding that they are still young, so their taste and yours are obviously very different. As adults, we would prefer a jewelry box with different compartments for each kind of jewelry we own but that isn’t always the case with girls. When buying a jewelry box for them, one of the most important things to keep in mind is; do you think that the jewelry box’s design is relevant today? If you bought her a box with a theme revolving around the movie “Casablanca” do you think she will really appreciate it? Now compare that to buying her a Tinkerbell jewelry box.

Even young girls treasure their jewelry, so giving them a box that also has qualities that they can treasure just makes it a perfect combination. Remember, she will probably tell or even show her friends the box. So it has to be something pretty and stylish.

Musical Jewelry Boxes are a good route to go. Some of us owned the musical ballerina jewelry boxes growing up and if you can remember how pretty and cool it made you feel, so then you would know exactly what your girls jewelry box should accomplish.

You should also consider buying a jewelry box with a key and lock. This will teach her more responsibility, it puts her in control of her jewelry and avoids a situation where she has to come crying to you with the problem of disappearing jewelry. If she has the key to her box, it puts her in control of everything about it.

So here are the basics:

Get her a jewelry box to give her the illusion of independence and to teach responsibility.

Her taste is not your taste. What you think is important is not to her.

Get her a Jewelry box that is in style; don’t get her something outdated that she doesn’t understand.

(If possible) Get her a Jewelry box with its own key. It will make her feel more in control and changes a simple jewelry box into a treasure.

That’s it. Remember, no matter how cheap the jewelry is, to her it’s a jewel worth having and protecting, so help her today in protecting it.

Ok, I have a lot of jewelry: long and short necklaces, rings, bracelets, watches, belly button rings, and other body piercing jewelry too!
I have a jewelry box but it seems to be shrinking because it’s not big enough to store all my jewelry now. Do you have good jewelry storage ideas?….So, I end up keeping a lot of the jewelry laying all around the jewelry box, but not in it and it’s a big mess!
Any suggestions of what to do and how to keep in nice and organized?

Answer:
necklaces: For Necklaces, there are alot of inexpensive ways to store them…Check out this example “Jewelry Storage Ideas”
For Earrings, bracelets and other body jewelry:Those can be kept in boxes, or inexpensive trays and in a drawer.

This video will help solve the problem of having your chains and necklaces floating around your house.

I like beading, and end up trying to find a reasonably inexpensive way to store necklaces..and stumbled on this idea, which I’m sharing w/my daughters (and anyone else interested.) I paid $2 or $3 for the “necklace hanger”, and about $10 for a pair of bookends (I show only 1) used to store earrings. Duration : 0:0:59
